LAB29 micro-residency program kicks off at Neues Schauspiel!
LAB 29 is a micro-residency format for transcultural, interdisciplinary art at the Neues Schauspiel Leipzig. Starting in February, we invite 3 artists/collectives (max. 3 people) from areas such as performance, photography, music, mask work, and co-creation for a short research residency.
What we are looking for
Artists or collectives working on an idea or research question
Interest in opening up and sharing your own creative process
Openness to exchange with local artists and the Leipzig independent scene
What we offer
Rehearsal spaces at Neues Schauspiel Leipzig
Organizational support from the theater team
Technical assistance upon agreement
Tandem partnership with a local artist
Feedback formats on your current work
Small honorarium and material budget
Accommodation and travel subsidy for non-Leipzig-based participants
Interpreter if needed
Who can apply
Artists with or without Leipzig as their place of work
Artists with a migration background are explicitly welcome

FAQ
How long does a micro-residency last?
👉 2 to 10 days, depending on the project and the artists’ place of residence.
What does a residency involve?
👉 Arrival & introduction, independent artistic work with guidance, public work-in-progress sharing and exchange.
What language is expected?
👉 Lab 29 is multilingual. Showings can take place in different languages.
Do I have to live in Leipzig?
👉 No. Applications from Leipzig, across Germany, and internationally are welcome.
When do the residencies take place?
👉 End of February, end of March, and mid-May 2026 (exact dates by arrangement).
